North of Lahaina, tucked away off Route 30, lies the village of Napili-Honokawai. As a small island community, Napili-Honokawai basks in its unique connection with the natural surroundings and its comfortable distance from West Maui's high density tourism areas. Developed around a small beach, Napili-Honokawai condominiums and local neighborhoods comprise most of the village. Few shops and stores help create a closed community with commuting routes to larger West Maui towns easily accessible. The small village community houses a widely diverse population, both in age and enthnicity, which breedsa genuine sense of tolerance, peace, and tranquility. Due to its "off the beaten path" location and small population, Napili-Honokawai offers the lowest cost of living than any other populated area along Maui's west coast. The majority of recent residents have been visitors turned retirees enticed by Napili-Honokawai's pristine beauty, laid-back energy, and ideal location. Other village residents include a relatively equal number of small family and individual Napili-Honokawai condo and homeowners employed by West Maui's booming tourism industry. |
